Journal prompts for generating insight and establishing goals

I’m giving you the green light… Just do it!

Here are some occupation-based prompts for generating insight and establishing goals to promote engagement in restorative and meaningful activities for happiness, balance, personal growth and well-being. I came up with these to help my home health co-workers, but they can work for anyone! Cheers.

  1. How would you spend your time/ what would you do with your life if you didn’t have to make money? What are the barriers to doing this now, even a little bit of it? How could you overcome these barriers?
  2. What would your perfect day look like? When and how can you make this day happen? Try to set a date.
  3. What’s an unhealthy or unnecessary habit that you could cut out of your life and not even miss that much?
  4. How can you invest in your own health?
  5. What are some healthy habits that you want to be a part of your life, or that you want to be a bigger part of your daily life? What are potential barriers to establishing these habits or consistency with them? How could you work around these barriers?
  6. Who do you envy, if anyone? Why are they so enviable to you? How could you make your life more like theirs?
