Journal prompts for leisure exploration

Life is tasty, let’s take a bite!

Starting from an old path

  • What have been my hobbies and leisure interests over the years? Make a list.
  • What did I like/not like about each of these activities?
    • Which one(s) did I truly enjoy and would I like to get back into them at this point in my life?
    • What are barriers to getting back into those activities, or potential supports that would allow me to get back into those activities?
    • Could I do any of these activities with my partner/family/friends/children? Could I teach my loved ones how to do something I enjoy and am good at?
      • At this point, if any conclusions have been drawn, establish a plan to start doing the desired activity and set a date to begin. What, when, where, alone or with whom, how, and… why? Why is it important to do this?

Finding a new path

Write lists:

  • What am I good at?
  • What have I always been told I’m good at?
  • What do I enjoy?
  • What sensations do I like? Sights/smells/sounds/tastes/tactile sensations/movement
    • What could I do to feel what I love more often?
  • What do I daydream about?
  • What do I deeply care about?
  • What do I want to accomplish before I die?

Preferences: either/or

  • Calm or exciting
  • Fast or slow
  • Alone or with others
  • High-stimulation or low-stimulation
  • Inside or outside
